Sometimes there are events right here in our own backyard that we hear about year after year but never actually experience. That is the case with SeaWorld Orlando’s Howl-O-Scream. At AMPS Magazine, we decided it was time to take a closer look at what all the screams are about. After seeing what SeaWorld has planned for 2026, one thing is clear: if you have never experienced Howl-O-Scream, this may be the year to finally put it on your Halloween calendar.

Howl-O-Scream returns on select nights from September 11 through October 31, and this year's event is being billed as the biggest lineup in its history. That alone gives first-time visitors plenty of reasons to check it out. The event features five haunted houses, six immersive scare zones, five new themed bars, live entertainment and rides in the dark. For someone who has never attended, that means Howl-O-Scream is much more than walking through a haunted house. It is an entire nighttime experience.

So, what makes 2026 different? For starters, guests will experience four brand-new haunted houses along with the return of the popular “Raveyard.” The biggest addition is “I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch,” the first movie-inspired haunted house in Howl-O-Scream history. Fans of the horror franchise will recognize the Southport Massacre and come face-to-face with the Fisherman as they make their way through the experience.

But if movie-inspired horror isn't your thing, there are plenty of original experiences. “Dark Net” takes visitors into a disturbing digital underworld, while “Everything Must Stay” transforms an estate sale into a nightmare. “Crawlspace” puts guests into dark and confined spaces where danger could be waiting nearby. Each house offers a different type of scare, giving first-time visitors several ways to discover what kind of horror they enjoy.

Then there are the scare zones. Instead of keeping all the scares behind haunted-house doors, Howl-O-Scream spreads the experience throughout the park. The new “Nekrosis” transports guests into a decaying world ruled by Pestilence, while other scare zones add even more atmosphere to the night.

For AMPS Magazine readers who may not consider themselves hardcore horror fans, there is another reason to attend: you don't have to spend the entire night inside haunted houses. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, themed bars, specialty food, mocktails and SeaWorld's thrill rides after dark. More than 15 new themed mocktails also provide options for guests who want the Halloween atmosphere without the alcohol.

For those who want to make their first Howl-O-Scream experience even bigger, SeaWorld offers Front Line Fear options and VIP experiences that provide enhanced access to attractions and other benefits.

At AMPS Magazine, we believe trying something new is part of what makes living in Central Florida so exciting. Howl-O-Scream 2026 gives first-time visitors a chance to experience Halloween from a completely different perspective. Whether you're coming for the haunted houses, the entertainment, the food, the rides or simply the atmosphere, this year's expanded lineup gives you plenty of reasons to make your first visit.

If you have always said, “I've never been to Howl-O-Scream,” maybe 2026 is the year to change that. The screams are waiting.
